Thomas Flynn

Senior Consultant and seminar facilitator

Thomas Flynn is a senior associate with Building Blocks Technologies Inc. and provides seminar facilitation and consulting services through BBT’s Centre for Project Governance. He brings over thirty years of project management experience to our clients. He frequently provides project management instruction to clients in the public and private sectors. Thomas has delivered over 100 project management seminars, covering project planning, execution, corporate planning and project selection, and project baseline development. He has taught within programs at York University and the University of Ottawa.

Thomas has been involved in the planning and implementation of a variety of projects while with the City of Ottawa and later as a principal and vice president of Bates Project Management Inc. His experiences have included leading the planning for a Federal Government program costing over $150 million. In recent years he has assessed the project management capabilities of organizations, as well as helping to establish project management offices. His projects have included work with Justice Canada, the National Capital Commission, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Public Works and Government Services Canada, The Department of Foreign Affairs, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, Centre for Surface Transportation Technology, Canadian Blood Services, Ontario Ministry of Health, Ottawa Grace Hospital, The Conference Board of Canada and Jamaica’s National Housing Trust.

The types of project that Thomas has been involved with for his clients have include strategic planning, information technology, facilities, and establishing project management practices, methods and procedures.

Thomas spent over sixteen years with the City of Ottawa and a senior transportation planner and senior capital facilities planner.

Thomas holds a B.A. from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario and an M.A. from the University of Ottawa in Urban/Economic Geography.

Thomas is married with two grown children and resides with his wife in Ottawa, Ontario.
