Account Executive

Building Blocks Technologies Incorporated, a Canadian leader in Corporate Skills, Information Technology and Security education and professional services, is looking for an experienced Account Executive for its Ottawa office to market and sell its training services to public and private sector clients.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for acquiring and developing new customers through effective prospecting and sales techniques, and managing existing business accounts from our traditional client base. Our clients are central to our business, and client satisfaction is what drives our service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of strategic sales plans for assigned accounts and territories
  • Focused closure on public-schedule courses, and prospecting and account penetration within defined territories
  • Ongoing client communication, follow-up and support
  • As a knowledge worker, calling new potential customers including reaching training coordinators, human resources, mid-level management, and senior level management
  • Obtaining regular customer meetings
  • Attending training sessions (onsite and public) and welcoming attendees
  • Attending regular industry events, and proactively participating in networking opportunities
  • Pipeline management and regular sales forecasting
  • Proposal writing

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience working with public sector clients at all levels (federal, provincial, and municipal) and the respective procurement processes
  • Ability to handle rejection, overcome obstacles, and break down barriers
  • Ability to generate business through direct sales activities (cold-calling, account penetration, getting meetings with key customers, presentations, networking etc.)
  • Ability to develop a network of regular contacts and clients to generate regular recurring business
  • Ability to influence and leverage business based on experience and knowledge of current sales techniques
  • Ability to listen to client requirements, understand their business needs and develop solutions to address their current challenges
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, be able to work well in a team dynamic and independently
  • Be energetic and motivated.
  • Possess professional business writing and presentation skills, and effective oral communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Business, Marketing or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with MS Office and CRM technologies

Asset Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in the professional development, adult education or training industry
  • Bilingual in English and French (written and spoken)
